London, UK – The future of design is constantly evolving, driven by inspiration and imagination. From luxurious and sophisticated spaces to sustainable and intelligent living, the trends showcased by this year’s SBID International Design Awards finalists reflect the changing landscape of interior design.

The awards, which will be held at the Royal Lancaster London in November, celebrate excellence in design and highlight the creativity and innovation of the industry. The finalists’ entries demonstrate how design can shape our living spaces and inspire our daily lives.

Quiet Luxury

One of the key trends seen in this year’s submissions is Quiet Luxury. This trend, which has dominated the fashion sector for the last few years, has now made its way into interior design. The focus is on investing in high-quality, minimalist pieces with timeless appeal. Neutral color palettes and fine materials are used to create a serene and elegant atmosphere.

Buckrail’s interior design perfectly balances sophistication and functionality with custom furnishings, natural materials, and soft color variations. Wadham Gardens also embraces Quiet Luxury, with clean lines, open spaces, and a neutral palette creating a harmonious and timeless environment.

Nature’s Embrace

Biophilic design, also known as Nature’s Embrace, is all about creating spaces that connect deeply with the natural world. This trend promotes tranquility and well-being by incorporating natural materials and resources into the design. SK Residence, for example, blends contemporary luxury with nature-inspired elements such as a wood parametric ceiling and a large green wall. Similarly, Bel Air Mansion offers breathtaking views and indoor/outdoor living, connecting residents with the outdoors.

Adaptive Living

Adaptive Living is another trend seen in this year’s submissions, emphasizing open-plan layouts and flexible spaces tailored to the dynamic needs of contemporary families. West 53rd Street is a prime example of this trend, with interconnected zones and an adaptable design. The apartment features distinct but interrelated areas that can easily be reconfigured. Thames City also highlights flexibility, creating spaces that can adapt to various family needs and activities.

Intelligent Living

The future of residential design is smart, as evidenced by the SBID International Design Awards 2024. Intelligent Living incorporates cutting-edge technologies that enhance convenience, security, and efficiency. Polo House, for example, showcases state-of-the-art integrated smart systems, while Homeplay’s World’s Smallest High-Performance Speakers offer innovative sound solutions.

Lavinia Engleman, SBID International Design Awards Director, explains, “Intelligent Living is not just about incorporating the latest gadgets into a home. It’s about creating a seamless, efficient living environment where technology enhances every aspect of daily life.”

Be Part of Celebrating Design Excellence

The winners of this year’s SBID International Design Awards will be announced at the awards ceremony in November. Dr. Vanessa Brady OBE, founder of SBID, says, “The awards ceremony this year is bigger and better than ever before.” For more information, visit sbidawards.com.
