Age Concern Hampshire CEO Announces Departure, Will Take On New Role as Chair of the Board

Tuesday, 22 October, 2024

In a recent announcement, Age Concern Hampshire’s Chief Executive Officer, Helen Callen, revealed that she will be stepping down from her position. Callen, who has been at the helm of the charity since 2018, has played a crucial role in navigating the organization through challenging times and is proud of its accomplishments in supporting older people across Hampshire.

“This decision was not made lightly, leading Age Concern Hampshire has been the greatest honour of my career,” said Callen. “I am proud of our achievements, particularly through the Pandemic, which would not be possible without the dedicated efforts of the charity’s staff and volunteers, and I would like to thank them all.”

While Callen’s departure marks the end of her role as CEO, she will continue to be involved with the charity in a different capacity. She will be taking on the role of Chair of the Board, a voluntary position that will allow her to support the new CEO and ensure a smooth transition while still contributing to the charity’s mission.

The Board of Directors expressed their gratitude to Callen for her dedication and hard work in ensuring the sustainability of the organization, especially during the challenging times brought about by the pandemic. They are delighted that Callen has agreed to take on the role of Chair and support the new CEO.

These changes mark an exciting new chapter for Age Concern Hampshire, with both continuity and fresh leadership to continue the charity’s important work in supporting older people in Hampshire.

Established in 1985, Age Concern Hampshire offers support at their Care & Wellbeing Centres located throughout the county. Additionally, they provide services such as Help at Home, Information via their Information Hub, Foot Care Clinics, Hospital to Home Services, Community Information Volunteer Services, and a variety of other activities.
