London Taxi Drivers Charity Film Wins Prestigious Award at Big Syn International Film Festival

London, UK – On Friday 8th November, The London Taxi Drivers Charity for Children (LTCFC) was honored with the Piccadilly Lights Spotlight Prize (PLSP) at the 2024 Big Syn International Film Festival Awards. The film, titled “Then. Now. Forever.”, was recognized for its heartwarming and inspiring story of the charity’s work in helping special needs and disadvantaged children for nearly a century.

The Big Syn International Film Festival is the world’s largest sustainability film festival, reaching over 50 million people in 120 countries. The festival aims to inspire global citizens to take action on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and make positive changes for the environment, society, and economy.

The PLSP is a highly coveted award that recognizes films that focus on issues that are important for the greater good of society. The prize includes the opportunity to screen the winning film on Europe’s largest screen, the iconic Piccadilly Lights in London. The PLSP jury was impressed by LTCFC’s dedication and impact in helping children in need.

“Then. Now. Forever.” was screened on the iconic Piccadilly Lights screen on November 14th at 11am, to a cheering crowd of onlookers, filmmakers, and supporters.

The founders of the Big Syn International Film Festival, Dr. Ragini G Roy and Dr. Sourav Roy, expressed their pride and gratitude for how the festival has evolved into a global movement. They called upon global citizens to be inspired by the films showcased at the festival, which address major issues such as climate change, inequality, discrimination, and poverty.

The festival’s Grand Jury was comprised of OSCAR, BAFTA, and EMMY award-winning leaders from the sustainability, business, media, and policy sectors. They selected the winners from over 500 films and 300 charity films received from 120 countries. The festival is organized by Big Syn Institute, a part of the Centre for Big Synergy, a Civil Society Organization of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA).

The London Taxi Drivers Charity for Children was founded in 1928 and has since provided outings for thousands of London children through the selfless dedication of London cab drivers. The film “Then. Now. Forever.” is a touching tribute to the charity’s work and showcases the iconic London transportation through the decades. The unveiling event at Piccadilly Circus was met with immense pride and support from the cabbies and committee members.

Sean Paul Day, a dedicated cab driver and LTCFC volunteer, was the mastermind behind the award-winning film. The film captures the heartwarming reactions of the committee members as they witness their hard work and dedication unfold on the grand stage of Piccadilly Circus.
