London non-profit organization SocialBox.Biz is celebrating 10 years of partnerships for sustainable re-use of technology by conducting a large tech handover event in Camden and London on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. The event will include case studies with Age UK City of London, C4WS homeless project in the London Borough of Camden, and The Passage in Westminster City.

SocialBox.Biz is on a mission to promote sustainable re-use of technology and is urging companies and large organizations to contact them before disposing of their old MacBooks, laptops, and other tech. These items will be securely wiped and upgraded with open source software before being delivered to Age UKs in London, supporting both the environment and the elderly community.

In addition to reducing their carbon footprint, companies can also make a positive impact on the lives of those who cannot afford hardware or software by donating their old devices to SocialBox.Biz. The organization also offers the opportunity for companies to sponsor students, basic computer classes, and tech labs, thereby reducing scope 3 emissions from old tech and making an even greater social impact.

SocialBox.Biz has been making a significant impact for over a decade and is part of many companies’ sustainability strategies. The organization is now calling on companies to include SocialBox.Biz in their board agendas and annual reports for the upcoming year.

With the constant upgrades in technology, many companies and organizations often find themselves with a surplus of old laptops and MacBooks. Instead of disposing of them, SocialBox.Biz is urging these companies to reach out and see what can still be reused.

Interested companies and organizations are encouraged to join this cause and make a difference in the lives of the elderly. For more information on how to participate, please visit the SocialBox.Biz website.

Some of the latest case studies from SocialBox.Biz include an October 31st, 2024 update for Age UK City of London, a decade-long partnership with C4WS homeless project in Camden and London, and a case study with The Passage in Westminster City.
