Edinburgh City Football Club (ECFC) of the Scottish Professional League (SPL) League 2 has announced a partnership with Nuffield Health, the UK’s largest trading charity. The collaboration will see Nuffield Health providing comprehensive health and wellbeing services to the players and staff of ECFC.
Nuffield Health offers a wide range of services, including personal training, health assessments, GP services, and physiotherapy, as well as mental health support and hospital treatments for serious conditions. The partnership aims to increase awareness of these services among the Edinburgh community and football fans.
In addition to promoting the partnership through traditional and social media, Nuffield Health will also be the ECFC First Team Jersey Sleeve sponsor and Headline sponsor of the ECFC Under 18 Academy Team for the 2024/2025 season.
John Dickson, Chairman of ECFC, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, “This is a momentous day for Edinburgh City Football Club as we work with one of the most recognized and respected names in healthcare in Scotland and the UK. Giving our athletes access to Nuffield Health’s fitness and wellbeing services will make a difference as we work towards a winning season in League 2.”
Naomi McMinn, Director of Wellbeing for Scotland at Nuffield Health, also shared her enthusiasm for the partnership, saying, “Edinburgh City FC is deeply entrenched in the local community and will serve to exemplify the value of a focus on wellbeing as it relates to health. We are confident that this partnership will help us positively impact the health outcomes for many more people in Edinburgh and Scotland.”
Established in 1928, Edinburgh City Football Club is a semi-professional senior Scottish football club that currently plays in the Scottish League Two, the fourth tier of the Scottish Professional Football League. The club has made history in the SPFL by becoming the first team to progress to league football via the pyramid system and the first “third” senior football club in Edinburgh. ECFC’s home games are played at Meadowbank Stadium.
Nuffield Health has been working towards its purpose of building a healthier nation for more than 65 years. The organization offers a connected health and wellbeing service that spans physical and mental health. This includes mental health support, hospital care, personal training, health assessments, GP services, and physiotherapy. Nuffield Health also champions free health and wellbeing programs in local communities to help people understand and improve their own health.
