Bittles Bar, a Belfast institution, has launched its first-ever Christmas advert, making 2024 a landmark year for the pub and its celebrated owner, John Bittles.
The advert, produced by Emerald Green Media for Ireland Before You Die, debuted on YouTube at 8 PM on Monday, 25th November.

John Bittles has gained attention for his strict but humorous approach to hospitality, refusing soft drink orders and setting high standards for his patrons. This ad embraces and celebrates his reputation, solidifying Bittles Bar as a truly singular Belfast destination.
Stevie Haughey, founder of Emerald Green Media, explained: “This ad is a celebration of Bittles Bar and its unique character. It’s a blend of festive charm and humour that reflects John Bittles’ distinctive style. Everyone involved brought their best to this project, and we’re proud of the final result.”
This project is a milestone for Emerald Green Media. It is their first video advert and features Haughey’s 87-year-old uncle in his acting debut. The advert was directed by Ronan Lavery, a lifelong friend of Haughey, marking his first professional directorial role.
Set against Belfast’s vibrant backdrop before moving into the atmospheric interiors of Bittles Bar, the film pairs stunning visuals with John’s no-nonsense humour, offering a fresh twist on the classic festive campaign.
The advert is now available exclusively on Ireland Before You Die’s YouTube channel.
