Zanete Bukarte, an accomplished legal professional, has been appointed to the Junior Board of the World Monuments Fund (WMF), a leading international non-profit organisation focused on protecting the world’s most valuable cultural landmarks. Previously an active member of WMF’s International Council, Bukarte will now play an expanded role in advancing its mission to preserve cultural heritage on a global scale.
Founded in 1965 in New York City, WMF has safeguarded more than 700 heritage sites in over 100 countries. Through its efforts, the organisation has raised in excess of $300 million for restoration projects and has empowered more than 1,000 local community members to take a sustainable approach to protecting their cultural assets.
Bukarte has built a reputation for her dedication to cultural advocacy alongside her legal career. During her time on WMF’s International Council, she helped organise well-received events in collaboration with esteemed organisations such as Sotheby’s and the Colnaghi Foundation. These initiatives have been instrumental in raising both awareness and crucial funds for WMF’s projects. Her unique ability to merge professional expertise with a passion for cultural preservation has made her a trusted supporter of WMF’s vision.
