Family vacations are a timeless way for people from all over the world to create generational memories. There’s also something to be said for escaping from reality or experiencing a romantic getaway in a place where you don’t hear any screaming about wanting French fries.

The demand for adult-only luxury hotels and resorts is clearly there, as evidenced by the dozens of openings in different corners of the world this year.

One of the most recent openings is the adults-only resort Miraval on Shura Island on the west coast of Saudi Arabia. The 180-room property opened under Hyatt in May 2026, envisioned as a “wellness resort” where the resort’s holiday planners craft a personalized itinerary of spa treatments, outdoor experiences, and exercise classes.

Visitors can also experience Saudi cultural experiences such as Arabic calligraphy and perfume blending alongside the island’s naturally soothing backdrop of lagoons and mangroves.

Which adults-only resorts opened their doors in 2026?

In Türkiye, the new OKU Bodrum is another adults-only boutique resort on the northern shore of the Bodrum peninsula. Like the Miraval, OKU Bodrum is designed with the “escape from the world” theme in mind; booked guests access it only by private jetty across the peninsula.

For those staying closer to home, the Hinata Retreat in the heart of the Berkshire Highlands in Massachusetts, opened by wife-and-husband team Jen and Jeff Nielsen, tested a soft opening in late 2025 before truly launching for the 2026 season.

As child-free resorts are more common in the Caribbean and traditional “beach getaway” destinations, the 12 modern cabins spread across 500 acres of mountain and forest trails offer a unique sanctuary designed to evoke a sense of being truly at one with nature, but in luxury accommodations.

And in a completely different part of the world for travelers coming in to see Australia’s Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest, the Nala Resort in the Mission Beach town in Far North Queensland is tucked right between rainforest and reef.

The only adults-only boutique hotel in the area welcomed its first guests in January 2026.

The Nala Resort is a new adults-only sanctuary near the Great Barrier Reef.

Greek Islands, Barbados, and more: destinations for adult-only getaways

In Santorini, the new Helestia Pocket Hotel & Concierge Club opened in July 2026 under Domes Resorts, Hotel News Resource reported. The club is designed as a private hideaway to overlook the Santorini Caldera from the village of Firostefani, rather than being located within it.

The five-star resort recreates the experience of Greek slow living through cave-like rooms and light-filled domed spaces, through which guests move for dining, swimming, and relaxation.

Other adults-only resorts that opened or are slated to open in 2026 in different parts of the world include the Hilton Curio Amàre Cancun Adults Only All-Inclusive Resort, the Luura Paros Cliff in Greece, and the Hilton Sens Cancun Adults Only resort, as well as the Royalton Vessence Barbados and Royalton Chic Jamaica Paradise Cove.

Recent reporting from Afar shows that hotels with age 16+ or 18+ guest age requirements represented 18% of all new resort openings last year.

A report from luxury travel advisory network Virtuoso also found that 28% of solo travelers and 34% of travelers older than age 50 actively seek out adults-only properties when considering where to book a vacation.
