MESA and Tech-Clarity Launch Analytics and AI Research Program for 2024-25

Chandler, AZ and Media, PA, USA – The Manufacturing Enterprise Solutions Association International (MESA) has announced its partnership with Tech-Clarity, Inc. to conduct the next iteration of its Analytics that Matter research program. This program, launched during the MESA Smart Manufacturing NOW virtual event, will focus on reviewing manufacturers’ progress in performance metrics and analytics, as well as exploring the value that can be gained from using artificial intelligence (AI).

The survey, set to launch in 2024, aims to understand the goals, challenges, and successes of companies’ analytics and AI initiatives. The findings will be shared in a research report, infographic, and webinar in the first half of 2025. The program has already garnered support from three sponsors, Aegis Software, Epicor, and GE Vernova, and is open to up to six sponsors. Companies interested in sponsoring can contact Julie Fraser at Tech-Clarity for more information.

The research program, titled “Making Analytics and AI Matter,” is an extension of MESA’s 18-year initiative to uncover the value of analytics through a survey of manufacturers and producers worldwide in various industries. Led by Julie Fraser, the research will also involve collaboration with MESA’s Knowledge Committee and Analytics working group. The survey will include questions from previous MESA Analytics studies to analyze trends and progress, as well as new questions to explore the impact of GenAI and the types of analytics that work best in different industries.

Chris Monchinski, Chair of MESA’s International Knowledge Committee and Analytics Working Group at InflexionPoint, says, “We have seen the value of this analytics research over the years. It shows progress in manufacturers’ technology use and business understanding. Now, we will explore both traditional metrics and analytics and the uptake of the newest AI and GenAI technologies to deliver manufacturing insights.”

Vice President of Research for Operations and Manufacturing at Tech-Clarity, Julie Fraser, comments, “Manufacturers have long known there is more they could do with their data. This research aims to demonstrate what they are doing to analyze their data to create actionable insights and high-value improvements from descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics, as well as current AI approaches.”

MESA conducts this study with a research partner every few years and will be inviting manufacturers and producers to participate in the survey in November 2024. The findings report, infographic, and webinar will be released in 2025, with special access and rights given to MESA members and sponsors.
